Marching Band Rehearsal at MSU
Lucas Oil Stadium with The Cavaliers
For each of these groups I would work with the sound designers creating custom cable layouts, mic placements, and mixes for each show. During my time with The Cavaliers and Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets I would travel with them each tour season, 3 to 3.5 months, being at every rehearsal and show. Working with the Sound Designers and Composers/Arrangers I would program the sound boards and mix shows for a variety of venues ranging from large multi-floored stadiums such as Lucas Oil Stadium and Georgia Dome to small outdoor high school stadiums.
Mixing these shows were about sound reinforcement of the acoustic instruments in the pit, front ensemble, to better blend them with the larger marching ensembles and the newly added feature to DCI of using electronic instruments and SFX. During shows setup had to be able to move in venues within 2 minutes, be setup and going, shows performed, and out within 2 minutes as so that the next groups could do the same.

Taking the skills learned working with DCI and my studies at Morehead State University, Dr. Brian Mason and myself were granted the funds from MSU to create a sound system for MSU's marching band. This would give future students access to seeing this technology in motion and allowing them to better be equipped for entering the music education workforce. This brought about the next step forward in the marching arts having myself working with band directors and their ensembles across Kentucky & Ohio.

Working alongside Dan Schmidt, Sound Designer, and Chris Koenig, Front Ensemble Tech, we created the soundscape for "Throwback". Normally during shows I would be the one controlling the sound board but with the rules of WGI one of the performing members had to control it during shows.
